Upper Palatinate

Regional Information

The Upper Palatinate is the geographical centre of Europe - a modern region steeped in history. It was in bygone days the cradle of Bavaria and in the Middle Ages the seat of the first German parliament. For centuries Germany's Number One industrial location and named the "Ruhr (the industrial backbone) of the Middle Ages". Today the Upper Palatinate is a successful combination of tradition and high technology - not only one of Bavaria's major economic locations and a gateway to our neighbors in the East, but also a center of culture. The Upper Palatinate possesses a richly varied landscape with an extremely high leisure value as well as ideal soft location factors, all to be had at very reasonable prices. Of course, tourism also has a significant part to play. This is where the familiar quotation "work where others go on vacation" was coined by a local company. There is no better way of describing the quality of life in the Upper Palatinate! Here you can go golfing, hiking, sailing and surfing - and work most creatively.
