Regional Information
As Europe's number 3 industrial region, Upper Franconia has four universities and 2 world-renown cultural sites and has the largest number of breweries in any region world-wide. It is located in the northeastern corner of Bavaria and has a population of 1.1 million. With an area of 7,231 square kilometers it is approximately twice as large as Luxembourg. Upper Franconia is geographically diverse and has variety of centers such as Bamberg, Bayreuth, Coburg and Hof.
