Bavaria is the leader of sensor technology is Germany in sales and number of companies and Germany as a country accounts for 30% of market share in the industry.  About one quarter of Germany’s sensoric technology companies, about 300 SMEs and some global companies such as Siemens, Infineon and EADS are located in Bavaria.  There is a focus on research (Fraunhofer Institutes, universities) and industry (EADS, Siemens) in the regions of Munich, Nuremberg and Regensburg. Additionally, over the past ten years Nuremberg has gained a name as trade fair venue for highly specialized sensorics, electronics and IT trade fairs.
