U.S. and German universities lead in world ranking
A recent report shows that Germany’s universities are surpassed only by the United States. Out of the leading 500 educational institutions ranked worldwide, 39 are located in Germany.
At the same time, Bavaria affirmed its position as Germany’s premier region for high-tech research and development: Both universities with the highest ranking in Germany, Ludwig-Maximilians-University (52nd) and TU Munich (56th), are located in the state.
The 2010 Academic Ranking of World Universities is published annually by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The current reports lists the universities of Harvard, Berkeley and Stanford as the top 3 worldwide.
