U.S. company SEI opens its first German site in Olching near Munich

MUNICH / OLCHING   U.S. service provider SEI has picked the community of Olching near Munich as the business location for its first customer support center in Germany. The agreements are all signed and sealed and test operations will already be up and running by June 2009. The company intends to take on 50 members of staff by the end of the year, who will then receive calls from customers and employees of a German automobile manufacturer from the premium segment and offer them valuable support. Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Martin Zeil, welcomes the company’s decision: “This is further proof of the excellent framework conditions that Bavaria has to offer not only for call centers but also for the whole back office sector. The recruitment of SEI in Olching is a positive signal for the entire services sector especially in times of economic crisis.”

Explaining the reasons for choosing the Olching site, Peter Markl, Vice President SEI Europe, commented: “In Olching we have found precisely what we were looking for. Accessibility to customers, the excellent transport network and in particular the availability of a well-qualified and flexible labor force were major locational factors helping us to reach our decision.”

The globally operating company SEI headquartered in Illinois, USA, has been offering customer services since 1986 with a work force now totaling some 1000 employees. With its new Olching site, SEI is extending its existing European presence in England and Hungary. SEI intends to offer its staff a secure and pleasant working environment. Interviews for jobs in the new office at Olching are being arranged as of now.

In Bavaria, the call center industry consists of more than 300 companies providing over 30,000 jobs and is also a major international growth sector with considerable labor market potential.
