Right now from Bavaria: a new office in Vienna
On June 24, 2010, Martin Zeil, Bavaria’s minister of economic affairs, infrastructure, transport and technology will open the state’s office in Vienna. Thomas Gindele, CEO of the German Chamber of Commerce in Vienna will head up the new office – a demanding assignment given the intensive and multifaceted economic relationship between Austria and Bavaria. Since 2008, Austria is Bavaria’s most important trading partner. The two-way total for 2009: €24 billion. Some 400 Austrian companies have set up production, research and other facilities and offices in the state, in which 82,000 Austrian nationals also reside. Virtually all of Bavaria’s main companies, in turn, have invested in Austria.
