MUNICH At today’s opening of the Systems 2008, Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Emilia Müller, emphasized the significance of the German ICT sector: "Sales in IT, telecommunications and digital consumer electronics will grow by 1.8 percent this year to around 145 billion euro. With nearly 830 000 employees, this sector serves as a major pillar in the overall economic development. As an industrial sector with practically full employment, and still looking for skilled workers, the information sector also plays an important role in the labor market."
As always, the Communication World takes place during the first two days of the Systems fair, where top managers discuss the major trends in the field of mobile communication and IP. This is where trendsetting new developments in the mobile communication and internet sector are presented. "Attractive mobile services and person-to-person services are the top sellers and the key growth markets in telecommunications. Bavaria, as one of Europe’s key media and IT locations, offers best conditions for new business concepts", explained Müller, who is patron of the ‘Communication World’.
The congress is attended by over 600 participants and is one of the largest and most important events for mobile services and IP networks in Germany. In practice-oriented presentations, over 40 high level speakers from top companies show strategies and techniques that can be successfully implemented in businesses.
"Mobile and IP communication are about to experience the next spurt of innovation. Substantial increases in sales for mobile data services, revolutionary new terminals, a portfolio of new web services will have a strong impact on the IT and telecommunications market over coming years", Müller added. Growth in mobile communications doesn’t stop. Today, more than three billion people all over the world telephone using mobile communication. "Altogether, there are therefore almost three times more mobile phones than televisions or PCs. The mobile phone has become the key communication and information medium. In the year 2012 there are going to be more mobile users of the internet than those using the conventional telephone network", the minister concluded.
