Munich: the most livable (and invest-able) city in the world
A prestigious ranking: “the most livable city in the world”. From a prestigious ranker: Monocle, the top-end, Londonbased current affairs and travel magazine, which chose Munich from among such strong competitors as Copenhagen, Vancouver, Zurich and Amsterdam. For lots of widely-known reasons, including the excellence of Munich’s research community, housing, health care, airport, leisure-time options.
And for the city’s extremely low rate of employment and crime, for its high rate of population growth, and for its general beauty and “feeling of Gemütlichkeit”. Making Munich’s accomplishment even more significant: Monocle, in the words of Tyler Brülé, its editor-in-chief, “expanded our metrics to look at how… a city treats small businesses.” According to the magazine, Munich is also number one in this area.
Another new metric: what the world’s cities are doing to combat climate change.
In this area, too, and thanks to its progress in meeting its ambitious goal of halving its emissions of carbon dioxide by 2030 (as compared to 1990), Munich is the best in the world.
