Müller: "Bavaria is proud of the US flagship company Google"
MUNICH / MOUNTAIN VIEW Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Emilia Müller, visited the world-famous US company Google during her three-day trip to California. Her talks with the management focused on the company’s great commitment to Bavaria. "Bavaria is proud that, since the fall of 2007, Google has been operating its first research & development center in all Germany at Munich. As one of the most important international IT companies, Google has demonstrated its sharp eye for the best framework conditions with this decision. The company benefits in particular from the large pool of highly qualified employees and the excellent research and academic environment in Munich", Minister Müller commented.
Bavaria and the Greater Munich Area rank at the top of the jobs league in Germany’s information and communications sector. Waves of innovations in the fields of digital technologies, mobile communications and software are making the Bavarian capital the Number One IT location in Europe.
"The high esteem of Google for Bavaria as a center of research and science also reaffirms the success of the Bavarian Cluster Initiative, which deliberately also places special emphasis on the highly dynamic, technology-driven IT sector", Müller continued.
Google was founded in 1998 and since then has developed into one of the largest IT companies in the world with a market value of over 150 billion dollars. By its own account, Google offers its users access to an index consisting of several billion websites. Worldwide, the company has close on 14,000 employees, including some 2,500 in Europe.
