Müller: "Boom in employment in Bavaria"
MUNICH "Never before have there been as many jobs for employees in Bavaria as in this autumn of 2007. With 4.5 million employees subject to social security payments, Bavaria has beaten the previous record of September 2001", commented Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Emilia Müller, referring to the latest labor market figures from Nuremberg. The employment boom in Bavaria had continued at an impressive rate in September. During the last year alone, 100,000 new jobs had been created in Bavaria as against 169,000 in the past two years.
Developments on the labor market remained positive. Müller: “The labor market in Bavaria is defying the early onset of winter.” Contrary to the customary trend in November, the number of people out of work compared with the previous month dropped further to 293,000. The unemployment rate of 4.5 % was still at its lowest level for 15 years. Of the 27 Bavarian job agencies, 12 are already reporting an unemployment rate of less than 4 % and 20 of less than 5 %.
“We now have the unique chance to raise employment in Bavaria to a sustained higher level,“ Müller continued. The Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs advocated consistently pursuing the political course of ‘saving, reforming, investing’ on federal as well as state level. Politics should not now be satisfied with merely distributing benefits. “Lower taxes and levies, more investment, less regimentation on the labor market, more flexibility, less red tape, that is the line we should pursue to reach full employment throughout Bavaria“, Müller underlined.
