Italian producer of insulating materials gives go-ahead for plant in Wackersdorf

MUNICH/SCHWANDORF Ediltec Srl., the Italian manufacturer of insulating materials, is this week going to give the go-ahead to build a production plant in Wackersdorf. Altogether, the company is investing some euro 3 million in the Upper Palatinate with 25 new jobs being created in the initial phase. "This will send out a clear signal of the Upper Palatinate’s appeal as an excellent location for investment. The recruitment of Ediltec is further evidence that innovative companies operating in such fields as energy efficiency can find optimal framework conditions and a home here in the Upper Palatinate", Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Emilia Müller, said with satisfaction.

Sergio Muñoz Navasa, the Managing Director of Ediltec Bayern GmbH, also underlined the advantages available in the region: "Wackersdorf offers solid arguments: We were very quickly convinced by the perfect logistic location, the skilled labor force as well as the excellent on-the-spot support." Ediltec intended to use Wackersdorf as a base for opening up the German market and was planning to steadily develop the site over the next few years.

The EDILTEC Group has been operating for over 20 years in the field of heat insulation for buildings and altogether has a workforce of close on 200 employees. The company has several sites in Italy (Modena, Masi S. Giacomo and Cellino) as well as one in Lleida in Spain.

Bavaria and Italy can look back over a long tradition of very close business relations: Italy ranks in 3rd place among Bavaria’s most important trading partners. In 2007, the volume of trade between Italy and Bavaria came to approx. euro 22.1 billion. Bavarian exports accounted for euro 12.9 billion of this total and imports for 9.2 billion. This represents a more than 5 percent increase in the volume of trade compared with the previous year.
