Business Location Bavaria remains attractive to foreign investors / U.S. data storage and management company Iron Mountain Inc. expands in Bavaria

MUNICH / FÜRSTENFELDBRUCK Bavaria remains a very attractive business location to foreign investors. The U.S.-based global leader in information protection and storage services, Iron Mountain Inc., opened a new data center located at the Industrial Park Hasenheide in Fürstenfeldbruck today. “The expansion of Iron Mountain Inc. in Bavaria underscores the location’s attractiveness to foreign companies. An excellent business environment is found in Bavaria. The decision of Iron Mountain for Fürstenfeldbruck shows that foreign companies are confident in Bavaria,” said Bavaria’s Economic Minister Emilia Müller.
Iron Mountain announced an investment of about 5 million euros in the location in Fürstenfeldbruck, creating 15 jobs by year end 2007. Fürstenfeldbruck is the company’s third location in Bavaria, after Markt Schwaben and Kircheim bei München.
Iron Mountain is one of the many U.S. companies that recognize the value that Bavaria offers as a leading business location in Europe. According to Invest in Bavaria, the inward investment and location marketing unit of the Bavarian Ministry for Economic Affairs, about 30 U.S. companies have either established or expanded their Bavarian locations in the last year. In addition, 30 more projects originating from the U.S. are currently in progress and overseen by Invest in Bavaria.
Founded in 1951 in Boston, MA, Iron Mountain Inc. was one of the first companies in data storage management worldwide. Today, Iron Mountain has advanced as one of the biggest global providers of record management, data protection and storage services. The company employs more than 19,500 and is active in 33 countries with over 850 locations worldwide. In 2006, the company announced sales of 2.4 billion U.S. dollars.
