Gomez, Inc. opens an office in Munich / Bavaria’s Economic Minister Müller sees IT Location Bavaria strengthen

Müller: “U.S. companies identify Bavaria’s leading role in IT”

Munich  U.S. company Gomez, Inc., a leading web application experience management provider, strengthened its market presence in Germany with the opening of a sales office in Munich.  At the end of 2007, the information technology company began providing its software-as-a-service solutions to customers in the region of Unterfoehring under the name “Gomez Germany GmbH.”

For Bavaria’s Economic Minister Emilia Müller, the new location in Unterfoehring is further evidence of how attractive Bavaria is as a location for U.S. companies. “U.S. companies do not pass by Bavaria!  The establishment of the company Gomez is a logical result of the attractive environment for IT companies as well as the excellent conditions necessary for growth in Bavaria. Roughly 40% of German software companies are located in Bavaria.  A location in the state assures not only an excellent infrastructure for business and a large sales market, but also powerful business partners nearby,” stated Minister Müller.  From here Gomez Germany GmbH has access to such customers in southern Germany as Siemens, O2 and AUDI.

“The establishment of Gomez also affirms the success of the Cluster Offensive Bavaria, which is a significant component of the High-Tech-Branch. Additionally, U.S. companies receive optimal support with all questions regarding the Business Location Bavaria through Invest in Bavaria as well as from the two Bavarian representative offices in the USA,” concluded the Minister.

The region of Munich is the top location in Germany in the information and communication technology industry.  Innovations in digital technology, mobile communications and software make the Bavarian capitol the number one IT location in Europe.

Gomez, Inc. is an on-demand infrastructure provider for web application experience management.  Gomez applications, featuring visual, functional and load testing, actual end-user and active website monitoring and competitive benchmarking, are used by more than 1000 companies worldwide. The company is headquartered in Lexington, Massachusetts with German offices in Munich as well as Hamburg and Düsseldorf.

The USA and Bavaria have traditionally had a very close economic relationship.  With export volume an impressive 35 billion euros, the US is an important partner to Bavaria.  Roughly 750 Bavarian companies have a subsidiary in the USA.  Reversely, about 800 US companies are located in Bavaria, of which more than three-quarters are High-Tech companies.
