Fressnapf Tiernahrungs GmbH invests in a new logistics center in Feuchtwangen / 200 new jobs
MUNICH / FEUCHTWANGEN Fressnapf Tiernahrungs GmbH is building a state-of-the-art distribution warehouse in Feuchtwangen. The Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Martin Zeil, welcomes the decision of the company: “Boasting an extremely efficient infrastructure and highly skilled workforce Bavaria offers ideal conditions for the logistics sector. The decision of the company shows that these advantages are having a positive effect, even in difficult economic times. In tough national and international competition, particularly Middle Franconia is able to scoop top marks as a result of its excellent locational conditions.“
The animal food and needs specialist is investing 16 million euro in its new distribution hub for the southern German market. In the first year some 200 new jobs will be created to begin with. The new center is one of the largest investments in the 19-year history of the franchise company. “The decisive argument in favor of Feuchtwangen was the perfect strategic location at the A6/A7 interchange“, explained Torsten Toeller, owner and founder of the company. Toeller emphasized the importance of the new logistics center in Middle Franconia for his strategic business objectives: “With our new base in Bavaria we can provide an even better service for the growing demand in our southern German markets.“ The work on the building that covers an area of approximately 20,000 square meters has already reached an advanced stage. The logistics center will start operations in October. Some 350 of the 750 Fressnapf outlets in Germany will in future be supplied from Feuchtwangen.
With around 400,000 employees the logistics sector is one of Bavaria’s most important industries. This also makes Bavaria one of Germany’s top states for logistics in terms of quality and quantity. For 2008 the total revenue in the logistics sector in Germany was estimated at approximately 200 billion euro.
