Munich / Unterschleissheim The hotel chain Dolce Hotel and Resorts gave the go-ahead for the construction of a conference hotel in Unterschleissheim yesterday. The overall investment is more than 50 million euros, creating about 150 new jobs in the process. Dolce Hotel and Resorts has already been active in Unterschleissheim since assuming the management of the Ballhaus Forum conference centre at the start of 2007. Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs Emilia Müller sees the building of the hotel "as the perfect complement to the Ballhaus Forum. The availability of about 250 guest rooms for overnight accommodations beginning in 2010 is a necessary completion of the conference centre." Furthermore, the minister emphasised: "The addition of this hotel is also a confirmation of Bavaria as the market leader in Germany for business conferences and events."
The US company Dolce Hotel and Resorts has its headquarters in Montvale, New Jersey. It has been active in the international conference business for more than 25 years. Dolce currently has a staff of about 3,500 employees around the world and is active at 27 locations throughout the USA and Europe.
With about 600 conference hotels, as well as 250 conference centres and municipal halls, the State of Bavaria offers an extensive infrastructure for events. About one-fifth of the facilities offered in Germany are located in Bavaria. More than 30 percent of all overnight stays in Bavarian hotels are due to business travel. Every third job in the Bavarian tourism industry is directly or indirectly dependent upon convention and conference tourism.
