Bavaria's Economics Minister at the informational event 'Aeronautics and Space in Bavaria'
MUNICH / BERLIN Jointly with Bavarian scientists and business representatives, Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Martin Zeil, provided information on the outstanding strengths and the goals of the state’s aeronautics and space sector during a Parliamentary Evening in Berlin. “Bavaria is one of the leading locations for aerospace, both in terms of manufacturing and research efforts. The high-tech sector aerospace is extremely significant for Bavaria and Germany. This makes it even more important to stay in continuous contact with political decision makers on the federal level and to raise awareness for Bavaria’s initiatives”, Zeil explained.
Minister Zeil introduced the state’s Funding Program for Research and Development in Space Travel at the Berlin Parliamentary event. Since 1990, Bavaria has allocated about EUR 200 Million for aerospace research. “In times of economic downturn, we continue to provide support to specifically strengthen the location and ensure sustainable growth of Bavaria’s aerospace sector. We advance research facilities, foster their business networks and support innovative initiatives in the aeronautics and space industry, Zeil underlined. Mr. Zeil pointed to the expansion of fiber-composite technologies in Augsburg, and the foundation of the center of excellence for robotics in Oberpfaffenhofen. Bavaria has also been permanently engaged in the field of satellite-based applications, like GMES and Galileo.
