Bavaria's BioTech cluster in the Wall Street Journal
A special report on research parks in the Wall Street Journal's Dec. 18th 2009 Marketplace section quotes Horst Domdey, Managing Director of BioM on Bavaria's culture of innovation: "What you really need is a creative environment, a kind of playground which allows the scientists to work on their - in many cases - crazy ideas and hypotheses." BioM coordinates the activities of the Bavarian Biotech Cluster and is the central point of contact for research institutes, life science companies and start-ups.
With over 300 biotech companies and more than 100 research groups from academia and industry, the state of Bavaria is one of Europe's top 3 locations for biotechnology. Bavaria is also Germany's leading biotechnology region.
