MUNICH The latest figures released by the ‘Institut für Mittelstandsforschung’ (Institute for Research into Small and Medium-sizedEnterprises) in Bonn show that Bavaria is underpinning its frontline position as the No. 1 start-up state in Germany. "While most of the other states in Germany have been experiencing a downward trend, Bavaria on aggregate registered over 1,200 new businesses in the first quarter of 2008 alone. This is proof of the good framework conditions for start-ups and young companies in Bavaria", commented Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Emilia Müller, referring to the results of the study into start-up activity in Germany.
She continued to say that with a plus of 1,223 new businesses, Bavaria was the undisputed leader when it came to start-ups, far outperforming the other large German states like Baden-Württemberg (-1,326), Lower Saxony (-429), Hesse (+113) and North Rhine Westphalia (-1774).
A study recently published by the ‘Institut für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung’ (Institute for Employment Research) in Nuremberg also found that Bavaria offered excellent conditions for start-ups. "The Augsburg, Munich and Nuremberg regions all rank in the top group in Germany in terms of start-up potential. This a positive sign for self-employment and entrepreneurship at a time when the good economic situation means fewer people are tending to take advantage of the opportunities offered for new businesses", the Minister added.
