MUNICH / BURGHAUSEN Another boost for the Bavarian Chemical Triangle: OMV AG and Borealis AG opened their new production plants in Burghausen today. "The chemical industry plays an important role as a global growth industry and innovation driver for nearly all business sectors. I am very pleased that OMV and Borealis are further consolidating this most important chemical location with their record investments. The new plants are another milestone in the more than 100 year-old success story of the Bavarian Chemical Triangle", Emilia Müller, Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, underlined at the inauguration ceremony.
A major incentive for these investments was the construction of the ethylene pipeline that was also receiving substantial funding from the State Government. "The pipeline is increasing the security of supply of the companies, opening up more growth perspectives and boosting the competitiveness of the whole European petrochemical industry", Müller commented. It was making a major contribution to the pleasing spirit of optimism in the Chemical Triangle.
The pipeline and the new production facilities were impressive proof of the advantages Bavaria has to offer as a top business location. The State provides ideal prerequisites for dynamic companies. "In this way, we are securing top-quality jobs in the long term and encouraging the creation of new positions. This is bringing benefits to people all over the State", the Economics Minister added.
