Bavaria’s Economics Minister reports on the 2007 half-yearly figures of the Bavarian Trade Fair Participation Program

Huber: “An excellent result for the first half of the year”

MUNICH  In the first six months of this year, the Bavarian Trade Fair Participation Program has once again performed excellently. 219 companies from the State of Bavaria took part in 18 trade fairs included in the sponsorship program. That is 31 companies more than in the same period of the previous year. “Taking part in foreign trade fairs is a vital step towards opening up new sales opportunities abroad. Despite the good state of the German economy at present, the rise in the numbers of participating companies shows that Bavarian firms are still anxious to gain a foothold in foreign markets”, commented Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Erwin Huber. He added that the State Government was also going to continue giving vigorous support to small and medium-sized companies in particular.

Great satisfaction was expressed by the Bavarian firms exhibiting at IM-TEX, India’s leading mechanical engineering fair, in January 2007, or at North America’s biggest film and television technology fair, NAB, in the USA in April 2007. Bayern International managing director Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer said: “There is also particularly strong demand for trade fairs in the new EU states in the fields of construction and environment. The Bavarian exhibitors at the two construction fairs Bulgaria Building Week at Sofia in March and Construma at Budapest in April were extremely pleased with the outcome.” In the second half of the year there will be plenty of other opportunities to share a communal booth at interesting trade fairs in the new EU states, for example in the field of industrial technology in Romania and Bulgaria.

Bayern International organizes the Bavarian Trade Fair Participation Program in collaboration with the trade associations on behalf of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs. By placing the focus on different industries and different countries, the Trade Fair Participation Program is always in a position to address the current needs of the Bavarian companies. Further information on the Bavarian Trade Fair Participation Program, and in particular on the fairs offering a communal Bavarian booth in 2007 and 2008, can be called down from the Internet under www.bayern-international.de.
