Bavaria’s Economics Minister Zeil congratulates aviation center Augsburg on launch of new aviation company ‘Premium Aerotech’

MUNICH / AUGSBURG Martin Zeil, Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, wishes the new company ‘Premium Aerotech’ a successful future: "Premium Aerotech is demonstrating outstanding commitment to the State of Bavaria and the aviation center of Germany. Today’s start of business activities by the German premium component supplier in Augsburg and Lower Saxony opens up enormous opportunities for new successful structures in the aviation industry."

Premium Aerotech GmbH has been formed as a new supplier of major structural parts for the construction of aircraft, grouping together the former Airbus sites of Varel and Nordenham in Lower Saxony as well as the former EADS site in Augsburg. Zeil: "System suitability, along with the development and use of new technologies will make the parts produced by the new company into indispensable components for the aircraft of the future." What is more, the new plants will act as trailblazers in the production of new carbon fiber structures for the coming generations of aircraft. "This will give Augsburg the historic chance to play a leading role in the development of the new fiber-composite technologies and production techniques for aircraft construction and other applications." That was why the Bavarian State Government was also quick to give the Augsburg site important signals, which fell on fertile ground, by promising to set up extra-faculty research institutes of the Fra unhofer Society and the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Zeil added.

Premium Aerotec GmbH is today officially celebrating the start of independent operations on January 1, 2009 with works meetings in the Augsburg, Nordenham and Varel plants. Altogether 6,000 employees will be working at the three sites. An annual sales revenue of close on one billion euro is forecast. Augsburg is to receive key work packages for the new Airbus A 350 XWB.
