Bavaria’s Economics Minister Zeil attends ‘Stark am Standort Bayern!’ information event for entrepreneurs

MUNICH At yesterday’s event ‘Stark am Standort Bayern!’ (Strong Partners in Bavaria!), which was jointly organized in the Lower Bavarian municipality of Schönberg by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Passau Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the focus was on developing new industrial potential. Martin Zeil, the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, commented: "At times of crisis, it is especially important to make full use of local potential. The initiative ‘Stark am Standort Bayern!’ will help companies to step up their competitiveness by optimizing products and processes. Innovation, training and professional education, sound financial models – the positive examples of particularly successful companies from Lower Bavaria demonstrate the enormous potential for more added value that is waiting to be tapped in the region."

The Economics Minister continued to say that, in the past, Lower Bavaria had clearly ranked among the winners of globalization. "The companies based here are benefiting above all from the close ties with their neighbors in Eastern Europe. No other administrative district in Bavaria can boast such a rapid industrial expansion since 1999 as Lower Bavaria". This was also largely due to the vigorous support given to the companies by the Bavarian State Government as well as politicians and local associations.

Zeil: "The business community in Lower Bavaria is highly competitive. Now it is a matter of taking decisive steps to overcome the economic downswing. Companies must take advantage of any as yet unexploited potential." In the long term, the task facing the policymakers was to create as good framework conditions for industry as possible and now it was up to them to help the economic position to stabilize quickly by taking targeted measures. The Economics Minister finished off by saying: "Besides boosting private consumption and extending public investment, we must also make every effort to increase the capacity and willingness of companies to invest".
