MUNICH "We currently have Oktoberfest mood on the Bavarian labor market.
All of Bavaria’s regions have registered another sharp fall in unemployment. Nowhere else are jobs so secure and employment prospects so good as in Bavaria", commented Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Emilia Müller, referring to the latest labor market statistics from Nuremberg. Although the global economic environment has become more difficult, the positive trend was maintained on the Bavarian labor market in September. Müller: "the Bavarian employment market is in excellent shape. I expect the number of jobless to fall below the 250,000 mark this autumn. Bavaria’s successful economic policy is paying off in all parts of the State with less unemployment and more jobs."
According to the latest figures just released from Nuremberg, Bavaria has the lowest rate of unemployment in all Germany and the lowest number of people out of work for 16 years. In September, there were 255,181 people without work in Bavaria. That is nearly 61,000 less than only a year ago. The unemployment rate was 3.9 percent. In 18 out of 27 Bavarian job agencies, the rate is already below 4 percent, and in six it is below 3 percent. At the same time, the number of employees liable to social security contributions in July reached a new all-time high for that month of 4.51 million, passing last year’s employment level by almost 100,000 jobs.
