Trade fair “Aerospace Testing, Design and Manufacturing“ held in Munich for the second time

Müller: “Bavaria is one of the world’s top aerospace locations”

MUNICH  The trade fair Aerospace Testing, Design and Manufacturing is being held for the second time in its new venue, Munich. “Aerospace as well as satellite navigation are key motors of innovation for the Bavarian economy. The choice of Munich as venue for this internationally leading trade fair reflects Bavaria’s outstanding position in the aerospace industry,“ commented the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Emilia Müller. Including the workforce from the field of air transport ,there are well over 50,000 employees working in the aerospace sector in Bavaria. The annual sales volume amounts to approximately 6.5 billion euros.

“The Bavarian State Government will continue to further develop Bavaria as an aerospace location, making it even fitter and more competitive. The Aerospace Testing can also play an important role in this process,” Emilia Müller added. Strategic cooperation and networking are of major importance in this respect. Müller: “We have therefore initiated two individual cluster platforms for aerospace and satellite navigation within the scope of the cluster initiative, under the management of bavAIRia e.V. These are operating most successfully.“ It is the set goal to provide a dynamic development environment and trigger innovative projects and events in Bavaria as a science and technology location.

With the support of the State of Bavaria, the aviation companies EADS, MTU Aero Engines and Liebherr-Aerospace also set up the think-tank ‘Bauhaus Luftfahrt’ about two years ago, where interdisciplinary research cooperations are working together under one roof on solutions for air transport systems of the future.

Excellent infrastructures, like those in Bavaria, are essential for economic success, the Minister of Economic Affairs stressed. "But most of all we need the people who input innovation, creativity and diligence into our structures. I am therefore very pleased that this fair is also aiming to encourage interest in the aerospace sector among our future top performers,“ Müller added. The last day of the fair will therefore be focusing on the “student day.“
