New materials companies are dispersed throughout Bavaria.  The companies tend to be located near the research centers in order to create a bridge between the research of new materials and industrial applications.  The primary cluster for new materials in Bavaria are below:

Neue Materialien Bayreuth: Composite materials and material compounds, plastics, technical ceramics, ultra-lightweight engineering with coated fabrics, sintering processes for hard metals, smart cutting tools, optimization of metal welding work

Neue Materialien Fürth: Magnesium and aluminum – studies on rheological behavior, Thixomolding, extrusion molding of powders (conform technology), surface coating, plastic molded parts, plasma treatment of polymer materials

Neue Materialien Würzburg: function materials through integration of piezoceramics, PZT-fiber modules, rheological liquids, preparation of material data, design concepts in the field of adaptronics.
