Introduction

Bavaria is a global leader in innovative environmental technology.  Bavarian companies primarily provide restoration-oriented environmental protection in the areas of waste, air, water and soil.  In addition many Bavarian manufacturing companies are employing sustainable development strategies in which production methods are based on ecological principles such as careful use of raw materials, minimizing harmful substances, involving recycling processes and minimizing energy consumption.

Accounting for about one sixth of the world trade volume in environmental technology Germany occupies an international frontline position in this field.  There are over 10,000 companies registered in the national Database of German Environmental Companies of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Of those, Bavaria accounts for over 2000 mostly mid-sized enterprises whose environmental products and services range from design, development and engineering up to plant construction.  These companies export their products and expertise to all major markets in the world and benefit from the State’s optimal location in the center of Europe.
