Petrochemical companies that work with propylene and ethylene basis have an industry concentration in three areas in the state: Münchsmünster, Burghausen and Burgkirchen/Gendorf. For example, OMV, Austria’s largest listed industrial company, is located in Burghausen and BP/Ruhr Oel is located in Münchsmünster. Monofilament are located in Bobingen. The U.S.-based Johns Manville initially invested in the Bavarian City of Bobingen in 1999 and in 2006 decided to invest 30 million euros to create 17 new jobs and secure 170 existing jobs increasing the company’s annual production of spunbond by about 30%.
