Over 250 chemical plants are located in Bavaria with an output of products that range from plastic resins to pharmaceuticals, from synthetic fibers to personal care products. A large variety of specialty products are developed and produced by SMEs (companies with less than 500 employees) that account for almost 50% of the industry’s workforce with a total of 59,000 employees. Key buyers are in the plastics processing, automotive engineering, paper/print, pharmaceuticals, textiles/clothing/leather, mechanical engineering and construction sectors.
